Note: These steps apply to non-aviation customers.
You can update your WiFi network name (SSID) or password directly through the Starlink app. Follow the steps below:
How to Change Your WiFi Network Name or Password:
- Connect to your Starlink WiFi network.
- Sign into your Starlink account via the Starlink app.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Under Router Configuration, select the WiFi network you want to update.
- Enter your new WiFi network name and/or password.
- Click Save.
Note: Once saved, all currently connected devices will be disconnected. You will need to reconnect using your updated network name and password.
Important: For your security, the password will not be displayed again after it’s set. If you forget it, you’ll need to factory reset your Starlink router to create a new network name and password.
Important Notes:
- The WiFi network name is also referred to as an SSID.
- The WiFi password may also be called a network security key, WPA key, or WPA/WPA2 passphrase.
- Only share your WiFi password with trusted individuals.
- Network name (SSID) must be between 4–32 characters, and can include letters, numbers, and spaces.
- Password must be between 8–32 characters, and can include letters, numbers, spaces, and symbols.
- Although creating a custom network name and password is optional, we highly recommend securing your WiFi. By default, the Starlink network is not password-protected until you set a password.
Brazil-Only WiFi Password Requirements:
To comply with Brazilian regulations, your WiFi password must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be 8 to 32 characters long
- Include at least one uppercase letter
- Include at least one lowercase letter
- Include at least one number
- Include at least one special character
- Example: 1StrongPa$sword
Enabling a Guest Network:
Creating a guest network allows others to use your internet without accessing the main Starlink settings. Note that while on the guest network, the Starlink app will not be accessible.
To enable a guest network:
- Open the Starlink app and go to Settings.
- Tap Add Network.
- Enter a unique SSID and password for the guest network.
- Toggle the Guest Network option.
- Tap Save.
