To select when your Starlink automatically reboots to install software updates:
- Open the Starlink app
- Go to Settings
- Select Starlink
- Tap Software Updates
You can choose from the following update windows: Overnight, Morning, Afternoon, or Evening.
Update Schedule
- Starlink software updates are typically released every two weeks, though timing may vary.
- Updates are not released on specific days and are designed to install without interrupting service.
- Updates are downloaded automatically in the background and applied during a reboot.
- Update data does not count toward your service priority data limits. Starlink “zero-counts” data used for updates and telemetry.
- Updates can still be installed even if your service is paused or inactive. Simply follow the steps in the Starlink app.
Software Update Reboots
- By default, Starlink automatically reboots to apply updates at 3:00 AM local time (±30 minutes).
- “Local time” is determined by the physical location of your Starlink hardware, not your billing, service, or shipping address.
- For Starlink Aviation, updates will wait until the Starlink’s velocity is below 9 m/s (~20 mph) continuously for 15 minutes before rebooting.
