Instructions for updating a Starlink terminal that is capable of sideloading.
In October 2025, select Enterprise customers were notified that certain Starlink terminals with significantly out-of-date software required a mandatory software update by December 1, 2025. That deadline has now passed.
Any terminals that could not complete the update—and are unable to sideload a manual update—are now inoperable.
Only Enterprise customers who received an email notification are impacted. The email included an attachment listing the affected Starlink ID (UTID) and Kit Serial Number.
Follow the steps below:
Prepare a complete list of the User Terminal ID (UTID) for all outdated terminals you plan to return.
Open a support ticket. We will confirm eligibility and provide return instructions.
You will receive estimated shipping costs and timelines for returning equipment to our Bastrop facility via Ocean or Air. Customers are responsible for shipping costs.
Reply with your chosen shipping method. The carrier will contact you directly to schedule pickup.
Once Starlink receives and processes your returned hardware, we’ll create your replacement order and send tracking information.
If you operate in a region where certifications are still pending for some Starlink hardware, our support team will guide you toward a compliant replacement option.
May 1, 2026. After that date, outdated terminals will no longer be eligible for replacement.
