You currently use a Gen 1 Router. As part of ongoing upgrades for security, performance, and reliability, Starlink will discontinue software updates for Gen 1 Routers in the near future. To ensure you have the best performance, we’re providing you with a complimentary Router Mini.
Will my Gen 1 Router stop working?
No. Your Gen 1 Router will continue to function. However, without future updates, we cannot guarantee long-term security, performance, or reliability. We strongly recommend upgrading to the Router Mini for the best experience.
Do I need to return my Gen 1 Router?
No, you do not need to return your Gen 1 Router.
How do I claim my free Router Mini?
Click the "Claim Free Router" button in the email you received, complete the one-question survey, and confirm. Please make sure your shipping address is up to date.
How do I uninstall the Gen 1 Router and replace it with the Router Mini?
Swapping routers is simple.

Can I power the Router Mini with my Gen 1 power supply’s Ethernet cable?
No. The Router Mini requires its included 15W power supply.
Does the Router Mini support both Ethernet and wireless connections?
If you have a Starlink Standard Circular, the Router Mini will need to be connected to it via Ethernet cable. You can, however, use additional Router Mini’s to create a mesh network throughout your home.
Will my WiFi network name and password stay the same?
If you set up your Router Mini with the same SSID (network name) and password you used on your Gen 1 Router, your devices will reconnect automatically. Otherwise, you’ll need to reconnect your devices once.
Is the Router Mini faster than my Gen 1 Router?
Yes. The Router Mini includes the latest WiFi technology, offering stronger performance, improved security, and better reliability compared to the Gen 1 Router.
Does the Router Mini have an Ethernet port?
Yes, the Starlink Router Mini has two Ethernet ports: one LAN port and one WAN port. The WAN port is used for connecting to your Starlink, while the LAN port allows wired device connections.
What happens if I don’t upgrade?
You may continue using your Gen 1 Router, but it will no longer receive software updates or security patches. Over time, you may experience degraded performance or reduced compatibility with Starlink services.
