Starlink ignites faster communications to prepare off-road racing team for Baja 400
In Barstow, California, a competitive off-road racing team, 1 Nine Industries, prepared for the Baja 400 with Starlink. The Performance Kits deployed on their trucks and helicopter deliver high-speed internet, which is keeping racers and their teams connected in the most remote desert terrains. Racing at 240 kph (150 mph) to complete more than 1,600 km (1,000 miles), the racers can communicate real-time issues, share stories with families and fans, and livestream the competition, which is now possible with Starlink’s satellite technology. This advancement is not only an industry first for the sport but essential to winning races.

2024 Progress Report

In just over five years, SpaceX designed, deployed, and activated high-quality internet, which is now available for over 2.8 billion people around the world, including for those who live in some of the most remote places on Earth.

This progress report highlights several remote communities where Starlink is providing fast, reliable, and affordable internet. Rural school districts, counties, and tribal governments are now able to offer online access to education, telemedicine, and many other critical services—in some cases, for the first time ever.
